Sex Worker Organisations

Below you’ll find links to organisations across the world who work with sex workers. These organisations may or may not be real ”sex worker organisations” which means some will be peer based and some will not. Some organisations may employ peers but may not allow their staff to admit to it or engage in peer education.

Organisations such as Scarlet Alliance and Empower are true sex worker organisations meaning they only employ past or present sex workers. It’s important to know if a sex worker organisation is peer based because it will mean they have an understanding of your needs, be able to empathise with you and talk to you on a range of issues you may not be able to with a non sex worker organisation. Sex worker organisations will also have a non-judgemental approach to the sex industry and will be able to help you identify a range of options and support you in your decisions.

If you’d like to know if it’s a peer based sex worker organisation, you can simply ask if they employ sex workers and do they do peer information and support. If the organisation does not give you a clear “yes”, chances are they may not be a operating as a true peer based sex worker org.
