Sex Worker Positive Media

We are seen and heard!

This would have to be one of our most important pages.

We think it’s important to have sex work and sex worker positive media highlighted on the website. We see to often poorly researched and illinformed media where sex workers have not been consulted. Scarlet Alliance and other sex worker orgs are routinely ignored and instead persons with sex work negative voices are consulted for the shock value. This means we see mainly negative stories in the media and mainly from places like “current affairs” programs, radio shock jocks and the print media.

All of the negative media can hide the amazing things sex workers are doing. It can also stop sex workers speaking out so they are not heard in their personal lives or public lives. With this page we hope to show what sex workers have achieved, who they are talking to and who is supporting the sex worker movement on important issues.

You’ll find some links below and pictures for the positive media sex workers have received. We will continue to grow this list!

Note: to see the media articles blown up so they’re easier to read, just click on the image of the article. The articles are listed chronologically from most recent to older media events
